Make Your Own Bean Bag Friends

This is my first published book! At the time, I was working as an in-house editor at Somerville House Books in Toronto. The publisher wanted this manuscript written quickly and suggested that perhaps I could do it. I think she was joking, but I said, “YES!” and spent the next few weeks writing. This was when a certain company’s plush bean-bag toys were hugely popular, so this make-your-own kit was hoped to be a hit with crafty kids.
My mom, Bonnie McTaggart, and Toronto artist Catherine Heard designed the critters. It was fun making up character profiles for the animal friends. This book was sold inside a boxed kit, including plush fabric, eyes, noses. Patterns are in the back of the book. So cute!
