This is a family classic; my mom and I wrote it, my aunt illustrated it, and my gramma supplied some of the cookie recipes. All the meals are designed to be lightweight, nonperishable, and delicious. Before you leave on a trip, it’s easy to dry the ingredients in your oven to pre-make dehydrated dinners. Then, at the campsite, you simply rehydrate the ingredients by letting them soak for an hour, and then simmer the dinner in a large cook pot. My favourite dinner is Moroccan Couscous.
The Wilderness Cookbook is a stand-by in my own kitchen and on yearly canoe trips.
